The Aberdeen Airport project was the reconstruction of taxiway "D". The existing taxiway was 50' x 6790' and associated connectors amounting to 50' x 1500'. The work included the salvage and stockpile of the existing surfaces, installing underdrain and subgrade excavation, placing Geotextile fabric, recycled asphalt, base course and 13" of PCC (concrete) pavement. Also included were the taxiway markings, fertilizing, seeding, erosion control blanket and other related items. It was completed in two phases. Phase 1 had a completion date of July 1, 2008 and phase 2 had a completion date, except for clean up, of October 1, 2008. All clean up was to be completed by November 1, 2008. Phase 1 was approximately 2175' long by 50' wide. It had 3 connectors to be completed in this phase. Phase 2 was approximately 4600' long by 50' wide with 2 connectors. This portion also had a phase that required shutting down the main runway and doing the connector work next to runway. This involved 3 connectors and a 20 day window to complete all work and have it opened to air traffic again. This was completed and opened in 16 days. both Phases 1 and 2 were completed with time extensions due to rain and additional work done without penalty.
